Annual Report Redesign (2020–2025)

Role: Lead Designer (Concept, Visual Systems, Publication Production)

  • First International Bank & Trust produces an annual report to share financial performance, strategic direction, and community impact with customers, stakeholders, and internal teams. Prior to my involvement, the annual reports lacked a unified visual identity and design system, resulting in inconsistent layouts, unclear messaging hierarchy, and less engaging communication of key insights.

    Over five years, I reimagined the annual report’s design to enhance clarity, brand consistency, readability, and strategic storytelling — while respecting complex financial content and regulatory disclosures.

  • I led the full redesign and ongoing evolution of the annual report series from 2020 through 2025, including:

    • Visual design systems & typography hierarchy

    • Layout and editorial structure

    • Infographic and data visualization design

    • Image integration and photoreportage support

    • Production files and print optimization

    • Iterative improvements year over year

    This work required balancing brand expression, financial precision, and strategic communication across a high-visibility publication.

  • 1. Unified Visual Identity

    I established a consistent design language that could scale across years while supporting the bank’s brand and core values. This included a typographic hierarchy, color systems, and modular layouts that respected both narrative and data-heavy content.

    2. Editorial & Hierarchy Clarity

    Annual reports contain dense text, disclosures, and performance data. I reorganized content to:

    • Clarify key messages

    • Improve flow and comprehension

    • Highlight performance, milestones, and impact

    This made the reports more approachable for diverse audiences — from shareholders to team members.

    3. Data Visualization

    I designed custom charts, graphs, and infographics that:

    • Made financial data more accessible

    • Reinforced visual consistency

    • Elevated storytelling of growth, stability, and community initiatives

    4. Emotional Narrative

    Beyond numbers, the annual report highlights community stories and institutional impact. I integrated photography and visual pacing that underscored human stories and emphasized the bank’s values in action.

    5. Iterative Refinement

    Because the report is a recurring deliverable, I applied learnings from each year to improve:

    • Readability

    • Production efficiency

    • Visual cohesion

    • Stakeholder alignment

    This turned a static report into a living, evolving design asset.

    • Established a consistent design standard for five consecutive annual reports

    • Elevated the brand’s financial storytelling and communicative clarity

    • Strengthened internal and external stakeholder perception through visual polish

    • Created scalable templates and systems for future financial publications

    • Improved engagement with key content through refined data visualization
